Apple recently announced iOS 9.3, bringing with it the biggest changes to the way schools can use and manage iPad. Below we have pulled together the top 4 changes you need to know about.
Shared iPad for students
For the first time, students will be able to login to a shared iPad, and see only their work, content, and settings. So if a 1:1 iPad deployment isn’t possible in your school, now you have a solution to provide a personal learning experience to all.
New Classroom App
This new app enables teachers to launch apps, websites or books on everyone’s device at the same time, making it easy to guide students without standing over their shoulder. You can also see what your students are looking at using Screen View, launch and lock apps with Remote Control, share student work via Apple TV, or reset forgotten passwords without calling IT.
Apple School Manager tool
VPP and DEP have until now been the technical core programmes behind any Apple deployment. The new Apple School Manager tool will provide teachers or administrators with a new way to manage iPad deployments in one unified system.
Managed Apple IDs
Apple’s new Managed Apple IDs mean that schools will now be issued with a school edition of the Apple ID. Teachers and students will still be able to enrol into iCloud and iTunes U courses as usual, but more control will be given to administrators via the Apple School Manager portal, to reset passwords, create IDs in bulk, and audit accounts.
